PRx Profile PRO Squat Rack Review

Updated September 2026 with my 6-month review · First tested June 2025 · 3 videos

My takeBest for Garages you still park in

If your gym has to share the garage with a car, this is the rack. It folds flat against the wall and drops down in about three seconds, no pins, no pulling the crossbar. The catch is you pay a premium for that fold, and there's a little side to side give, like any folding rack.

Buy it if

  • Buy it if you need to park a car in the same garage you train in.
  • Buy it if you want a rack that's down and ready in three seconds without pulling pins.
  • Buy it if your wrists are beat up and you need grip options on the pull-up bar.
  • Buy it if you want to hang third-party attachments, not just one brand's catalog.

Skip it if

  • Skip it if your gym is a dedicated room. You're paying for a fold you'll never use.
  • Skip it if you want a rock-solid bolted rig with zero sway.
  • Skip it if your ceiling is under 86 inches. Check PRx's height chart first.
"If you are in a garage where you need to park your car and you still want to be able to get out of the car, this is definitely a great buy."

What I don't love

A little side to side sway

It wobbles a bit left and right because of the folding design. That's expected, and most of your force goes into the wall anyway, but it's there.

Low ceilings cost you height

We ran a modified install for a lower ceiling. Perfect for my dad at 5'10", but at 6'5" the pull-up bar isn't very tall for me.

The install takes patience

The bolts come in two lengths and I mixed them up, so read the instructions carefully. They also say it's a two-person job, and getting it up alone was heavy.

You pay for the fold

It's expensive next to basic folding racks. If you have the floor space, you can buy more rack for the money.

How the rack and pull-up bar held up after a month of use, and what I'd flag before you buy.

Questions I get

Does it wobble?

A little side to side, about what any folding rack has. Hanging off the pull-up bar at 270, it feels sturdy. A rack bolted to the floor and wall will always be stiffer.

What ceiling height do I need?

PRx publishes a chart by upright height: 86 inches minimum for the 81" uprights, 94 for the 89" and 100 for the 95". Our ceiling measured 103 inches, so we ran the modified bracket heights for the 89".

Can I install it by myself?

The instructions say two people. I did it alone, and lifting it into place was heavy. Get a second person for that part.

Straight bar or multi-grip pull-up bar?

Multi-grip. My dad worked construction for 40 years and his wrists aren't very mobile, so we picked it for the grip options. It's about $50 more.

Will other brands' attachments fit?

Yes. It works with typical third-party rack mounts, so you're not locked into PRx.
