PRx 20kg Olympic Elite Bar Review
Updated September 2026 with my 6-month review · First tested July 2025 · 3 videos
I'm not a barbell snob, and if you just press, squat, row and curl, you don't need to be either. This bar is honestly more bar than my dad needs, and it's held up with no rust, no bend and no sleeve trouble. The two sets of knurl marks make it easy to set your hands the same way every time. The catch is the price, and PRx's own pages don't agree on it.

Buy it if
- Buy it if you want one good do-everything bar and then want to get on with training.
- Buy it if your bar currently leans in a corner or lies on the floor. The PRx wall storage fixes that.
- Buy it if more than one person in your house lifts and the bar gets handled by everybody.
- Buy it if you want knurl that grips without tearing up your hands.
Skip it if
- Skip it if you're a competitive Olympic lifter chasing a specific whip and spin.
- Skip it if you only lift light. A cheaper bar will do the job.

Before you buy
What I don't love
Prices don't always match
On the day I checked, the Elite bar showed $313.99 on PRx's collection page and $299.00 on its own page. Go by the product page.
The specs are thin
PRx's Elite bar page describes the whip and knurl but doesn't list tensile strength or a load rating the way its Swift bar page does.
Storage needs studs where you want them
The bar hanger mounts to a single stud. Our wall was short on room, so I had to mount it on a block, and that left space for one bar instead of two.

Worth it after six months?
How the Elite bar and the curl bar held up after six months, and whether I'd buy them again.

One month in
How the bar and the wall storage held up after a month of use.

Out of the tube and on the wall
Unboxing the bar, a first bench press, and mounting the storage on a block because our studs were in the wrong spot.
Questions I get
Is the PRx Olympic Elite bar good enough for a home gym?
Yes. For pressing, squatting, rowing and general training it's more bar than most home gyms need.
What's the knurl like?
Light to medium. It grips without being rough, and the two sets of knurl marks make hand placement automatic.
Does it work for Olympic lifts?
PRx sells it as a multi-purpose bar with a medium whip and both Olympic and powerlifting marks. I'm not an Olympic lifter, so I can't judge it there.
Do I need the bar storage?
Need is a strong word. But bars on the floor get dinged and get in the way, and a single-bar hanger is $49.99.
