My takeBest for Lifters with cranky wrists

If flat-hand push-ups bug your wrists, these give you a neutral grip on a thick beech bar for not much money. They felt solid on the floor, no wobble, no creak. The catch is they show up as a kit, and at under 6 inches tall they are not dip bars. These are just my first impressions. I'll tell you how it holds up once I've used it longer.

Buy it if

  • Buy it if flat-hand push-ups bother your wrists.
  • Buy it if you want to work on L-sits, deficit push-ups or handstand entries.
  • Buy it if you'd rather grip wood than foam or plastic.
  • Buy it if you need something small enough to slide under a bench.

Skip it if

  • Skip it if you want dip bars. Six inches off the floor won't do it.
  • Skip it if you want something that works the second the box opens.
  • Skip it if you need adjustable height or a taller platform.

What I don't love

They come as a kit

The listing never mentions assembly. It's screws, bolts and end caps, maybe 15 minutes. The little Allen wrench is slow, so I went and got my drill.

Two capacity numbers

The title says 600 lbs. Amazon's spec table on the same page says 400 kg. Neither matters for push-ups, but the listing doesn't agree with itself.

Easy to order the wrong size

Two sizes sit under one listing with the same photos. Check the dimensions before you click.

I'll come back in a few months and tell you how the grip and screws are holding up.

The step Amazon never mentions

I unbox them, find out they're a kit, build them, and do a first session on the floor.

Questions I get

Do they need assembly?

Yes. They come as a kit with screws, bolts, washers, end caps and a small Allen wrench. Figure about 15 minutes. A drill makes it a lot faster.

Can you do dips on them?

No. At 5.9 inches tall there's nowhere for your legs to go. Get a dip station for that.

How thick is the grip?

The listing says 1.57 inches of solid beech. I haven't put a caliper on it yet.

How much weight will they hold?

The title says 600 lbs and the spec table says 400 kg. I didn't load test either one. For push-ups, both are way past anything you'll put on them.
