Xendurance Fuel-5 & Fuel-5+ Review
Updated November 2022 Product overview, November 2022 · 1 video
My score: 4 out of 5
If you need real fuel for a long workout, a long run or hitting your carb macros, this is it. It's carbs, which means calories, which means actual energy, not just a buzz. The only difference between the two is Fuel-5+ has 45 milligrams of caffeine per scoop. The catch is this is a 2022 product overview I made as a Xendurance team leader, not a long-term test.

Buy it if
- Buy it if you want a pre-workout with actual calories behind it.
- Buy it if you're doing long runs, a marathon, or long training sessions.
- Buy it if you're struggling to hit your carb macros.
- Buy Fuel-5+ if you want a little caffeine. Grab plain Fuel-5 if you don't.
Skip it if
- Skip it if you're cutting carbs. This is carbs on purpose.
- Skip it if you want a big stim pre-workout. Fuel-5+ only has 45 mg of caffeine.

Overview, not a test
This is a walk through what the product is and how it tastes. It's not a long-term review.
You'll tune the flavor
The flavor is light. Less water makes it stronger, more water makes it lighter, so expect to play with it.

A pre-workout with real fuel
What Fuel-5 and Fuel-5+ are, the four carb sources plus lactate, the one difference between them, and how the two flavors taste.
Questions I get
What's the difference between Fuel-5 and Fuel-5+?
The only difference is Fuel-5+ has 45 milligrams of caffeine per scoop.
What's in it?
Four different carbohydrate sources plus lactate. Not lactose, lactate. A few absorb fast for a quick burst, and organic sweet potato powder gives you longer, steadier energy.
When do I take it?
As a pre-workout, during a long run or long workout, after to help you recover, or any time you need to hit your carb macros.
What does it taste like?
Light. Not overpowering, no sugary aftertaste. It comes in Berry Blend and Lemon Berry. Use less water for a stronger flavor, more for lighter.

Who Fuel-5 is for
Fuel-5 and Fuel-5+ are carbohydrate based fuel from Xendurance. They're for the guy who needs real fuel for a long workout or a long run, or who's having a hard time hitting his carb macros.
If you're cutting carbs, this isn't for you. It's carbs on purpose.
A pre-workout with actual substance
Most people think of a pre-workout as caffeine. This is different. Carbohydrates are calories, and calories are energy, so what you're getting is actual fuel to get you through the workout.
You can take it before a workout, during a long one, or after to help replenish. It's also good on a long distance run, a marathon or anything like that.
What's in it
There are four different carbohydrate sources, plus lactate. That's lactate, not to be confused with lactose.
A few of the carb sources absorb relatively quickly for a quick burst of energy. Then there's organic sweet potato powder, which is there for more sustained energy on longer workouts.
Fuel-5 or Fuel-5+
The only difference between the two is that Fuel-5+ has 45 milligrams of caffeine per scoop. That's it.
That's not much caffeine. If you want a big stimulant pre-workout, the plus isn't going to be that. If you want a little, get the plus. If you don't want any, get the regular one.
How it tastes
It comes in a Berry Blend and a Lemon Berry flavor. The flavor is very light. It's not overpowering, and it doesn't leave that sugary aftertaste.
You can tune it with water. Mix it with a little less and the flavor is stronger. Mix it with more and it gets much lighter. It's made to be easy to drink when you're out there for a long time, so expect to play with it a little.
What this review is based on
I've made one video on this product. It's a short product overview from 2022, when I was a Xendurance team leader. It covers what it is, what's in it and how it tastes.
It's not a long-term test, and I'm not going to pretend it is.
Who should buy it
Buy it if you want something with real calories behind it for long training sessions, or you need an easy way to get more carbs in. Skip it if you're keeping carbs low or you're shopping for a heavy stimulant.
Xendurance has a 60-day money back guarantee if you try it and it's not for you.
