Xendurance Hydro Review
Updated December 2023 First video November 2022 · 2 videos
My score: 4.5 out of 5
If you want an electrolyte drink without artificial sweeteners, this is the one I'd grab. The Raspberry Lemonade is the best tasting Hydro flavor they've done, and I said that on my very first sip. The catch is it has 3 grams of added sugar, and this is a first taste, not a long-term test.

Buy it if
- Buy it if you want electrolytes without artificial sweeteners or artificial flavors.
- Buy it if you want something to sip during a workout instead of a BCAA drink.
- Buy it if you like raspberry more than lemonade. You get more raspberry.
- Buy it if you want single-serve sticks you can toss in a gym bag.
Skip it if
- Skip it if you want zero sugar. There's 3 grams of added sugar per stick.
- Skip it if you want a long-term review. This is my first taste.

Before you buy
My two gripes
There's some sugar
Three grams of added sugar. That's what makes it taste good enough to drink all day, but it's not zero.
First impressions only
This was my first taste on camera. I'll tell you how it holds up once I've used it longer.

Best Hydro flavor yet
My unedited first taste of the Raspberry Lemonade, then a walk through the electrolytes, the sugar and what's on the label.

A swap for sugary sports drinks
A short overview from my time as a Xendurance team leader. I explain that Xendurance adds lactate as a fuel source, and how the Hydro sticks and the Lemon Lime powder taste: light, with no sugary aftertaste.
Questions I get
What does the Raspberry Lemonade taste like?
Not too sweet, not too strong. I get more raspberry than lemonade, but it definitely has a lemonade kick. It's better cold.
How much water do I mix it with?
I used 16 ounces of water and filled the rest of the shaker with ice. If you want more water, that's totally fine.
Does it have artificial sweeteners?
No. Xendurance doesn't use artificial sweeteners or artificial flavors. It has 3 grams of added sugar for flavor.
When should I drink it?
During your workout instead of a BCAA, or any time of the day you want to stay hydrated.
Is it tested for banned substances?
Xendurance says it's Informed Choice and Informed Sport certified.

Who this is for
Hydro is for somebody who wants an electrolyte drink without artificial sweeteners or artificial flavors. If that's the thing you've been looking for, this is the one I'd grab.
It also works as something to sip during a workout instead of a BCAA drink, or any time of day you want to stay hydrated.
I use this one myself, on the days I want some hydration.
What it tastes like
I tasted the Raspberry Lemonade for the first time on camera, unedited. My reaction on the first sip was that it's by far the best tasting Hydro flavor Xendurance has ever done.
It's not too sweet and it's not too strong. I get more raspberry than lemonade, but it definitely has a lemonade kick to it.
I wasn't sure going in. I liked the old Hydro because it was a light flavor, and this one came with a new formula with more electrolytes in it. I was blown away by how good it was.
How I mix it
One stick in 16 ounces of water, then I fill the rest of the shaker with ice. I like my drinks cold, and everything tastes better cold. I think it would still be really good without ice.
If you want to mix it with more water, that's totally fine.
What's in a stick
Reading off the label in the video: 320 milligrams of sodium, 115 milligrams of calcium, 100 milligrams of magnesium and 96 milligrams of potassium. There's also selenium, chromium and vitamin B6.
It has 5 grams of carbohydrates, and 3 of those are added sugar. That sugar is what makes it taste good enough to drink all day.
Xendurance also adds lactate, which they describe as a fuel source for your body, and an ingredient they say helps with absorption. Those are their claims. I haven't tested either one.
Xendurance says it's Informed Choice and Informed Sport certified.
Sticks, not a tub
The Raspberry Lemonade comes as single-serve sticks, 20 to a box. You can throw a few in a gym bag and pour one into a water bottle wherever you are.
The catches
It's not zero sugar. Three grams isn't much, but if you want none, this isn't it.
This is a first taste, not a long-term test. I said at the end of the video that I'd be adding it to my daily routine, but I haven't done a follow-up on camera.
My other Hydro video, from November 2022, is a short overview I made as a Xendurance team leader. In it I describe Hydro as a swap for sugary sports drinks with a light flavor and no sugary aftertaste. It's an overview, not a review of results.
Who should buy it
Buy it if you want electrolytes with no artificial sweeteners and you like raspberry. It tastes good, and for a hydration drink that's most of the battle, because you have to want to drink it.
Skip it if you need zero sugar. Xendurance has a 60-day money back guarantee if you try it and don't like the flavor.
