Xendurance Focus Review
Updated July 2024 First tested April 2020 · 3 videos
My score: 4.5 out of 5
I've been drinking Focus for a few years and the product itself works great. It's basically an energy drink slash pre-workout. The real question is flavor. Dragon fruit is still my go-to, Blood Orange is good but I'm not blown away, and I don't like Tropical Sunshine at all.

Buy it if
- Buy it if you want one drink that works as your daily energy drink and your pre-workout.
- Buy it if you don't want it overly sweet. Blood Orange has about 2 grams of cane sugar.
- Buy it if you like orange drinks. Blood Orange is a light orange, not orange soda.
- Buy it if you want to try a flavor with a 60-day money back guarantee behind it.
Skip it if
- Skip Tropical Sunshine. I don't like it at all.
- Skip Blood Orange if you want a flavor that knocks your socks off. It's good, not amazing.

What I don't love
Not blown away
Blood Orange is good. It's not 'wow, this is amazing.' Dragon fruit is still my favorite.
Flavors can wear thin
I loved Watermelon at first, then over time it was too sweet and I couldn't drink it every day. I'm a little worried Blood Orange goes the same way.
One flavor I'd skip
I don't like Tropical Sunshine at all.

Good, but dragon fruit still wins
My first taste of the new Blood Orange flavor, and how it ranks against the other Focus flavors I've been drinking.

How I got off energy drinks
A short overview from my time as a Xendurance team leader. I used Focus to get completely off energy drinks, and I run through the Dragon Fruit, Tropical Sunshine and Watermelon Burst flavors.

My very first scoop of Dragon Fruit
The day it showed up at my door. My first ever taste, one scoop in 8 ounces of water, and how I felt about an hour later: dialed in, not amped up.
Questions I get
What is Xendurance Focus?
It's basically an energy drink slash pre-workout. Same ingredients across flavors, just a different taste.
Which flavor is best?
For me, dragon fruit. Blood Orange beats Tropical Sunshine by far, and I think I like it better than Watermelon.
Is it really sweet?
No. Blood Orange has about 2 grams of cane sugar plus a little monk fruit and stevia. Xendurance doesn't overly sweeten their stuff.
Did Xendurance send you this?
No. I bought it myself, so you're getting a brutally honest review.

Who this is for
Focus is for somebody who has an energy drink or a pre-workout every day and wants one thing that does both. It's basically an energy drink slash pre-workout.
It can be your pre-workout, your coffee replacement, or the thing you grab when the afternoon slump hits. That's how I use it.
Why I started drinking it
I drank a lot of caffeine. A lot of those crap energy drinks. I'm not proud of it. I'd been waiting for Xendurance to come out with this so it could replace all of that for me.
It did. I used Focus to get myself completely off of energy drinks. By late 2022 it was the only thing I was drinking on a daily basis for energy.
What it felt like the first time
My first scoop was the Dragon Fruit, back in April 2020, the day it showed up at my door. One scoop in 8 ounces of water with some ice.
About an hour in, I felt like I wanted to sit down and get work done. Dig into a project. I've always struggled to dial in on one thing at a time because I feel scattered and pulled in different directions, and right then I felt like I could sit down and work on one thing.
It wasn't an overstimulated, amped up feeling. I just felt focused on what I needed to do. That's one first-day reaction on camera, so take it as that.
How to mix it
One scoop per 8 ounces of water. The Dragon Fruit bag I opened in 2020 had 30 servings in it.
I put ice in the shaker because I like to drink things cold. Small tip on the bags: score along the top with a knife and it opens a lot easier.
The flavors, ranked
The ingredients are the same across the flavors. Nothing changes but the taste, so this comes down to what you like.
Dragon Fruit is my go-to and has been from the first sip. It's a clean flavor, not overpowering, just enough. I said on day one I could drink it every day, and I have a soft spot for it.
Watermelon is actually pretty good. I really liked it when it first came out. Over time it was too sweet for me and I couldn't drink it consistently.
Tropical Sunshine is the sweeter one, and I don't like it at all.
Blood Orange: good, not great
I bought the Blood Orange myself when it launched in 2024. Xendurance didn't send it to me. It smells great when you open the bag, like an orange with a hint of creamsicle. Mixed up, it's more red than orange.
The taste is a very light orange. It's not like an orange soda that kicks you in the teeth. It leaves a little orange in your mouth afterward, and it's not a bad aftertaste. I've never had a real blood orange, so I can't tell you if it's close.
It's way better than Tropical Sunshine, and I think I like it better than Watermelon. But I'm not blown away by it. It's good. It's not wow, this is amazing.
My worry is that it goes the way Watermelon did, where I like it at first and get tired of it. I said I'd give it a month of daily use and report back. Until I do, Dragon Fruit is still my pick.
Is it really sweet?
No. Xendurance doesn't overly sweeten their products. On the Blood Orange I read about 2 grams of cane sugar, plus monk fruit extract and a little stevia leaf extract.
What you should know about these videos
Two of the three videos are first-taste videos, one in 2020 and one in 2024. The middle one, from November 2022, is a short product overview I made as a Xendurance team leader. None of them is a measured test.
What I can tell you is I've been drinking it for a few years, and the product itself works great for me. The open question has only ever been flavor.
Who should buy it
Buy it if you want to trade your daily energy drink and your pre-workout for one scoop. Start with Dragon Fruit. If you like orange drinks, Blood Orange is a safe second choice.
Skip Tropical Sunshine. And if you don't like the flavor you pick, Xendurance has a 60-day money back guarantee.
