Growing up, I can remember Hulk Hogan telling me to eat my vitamins. And I'm sure that you've heard that same thing a bunch of times, too. But what most people don't know is that the vitamins they're taking probably aren't working. Here's why. Hey, my name is Mike Berens, and for over the last decade, I have helped thousands of people add simple supplementation into their daily routines.
And one of the most common conversations I have is about multivitamins. And everyone seems to know that they need to take one, but most people don't. And I think it has to do with the fact that you can't feel a multivitamin. Other supplements, like a pre-workout, for example, are designed to make you feel them. When you take them, you're going to feel them right away.
Well, a multivitamin doesn't work like that. So think of your multivitamin like you would insurance. We all have insurance and know we need it, but we never have to use it. And if a situation comes up, we're grateful we have it. And a multivitamin is the same thing. We all know that we need it, and we hope that we never get a sickness where we have to use it.
But even when we do, we're super grateful that we've been taking it. So here's a pro tip that you need to know when taking a multivitamin to get the maximum benefit. You want to get a multivitamin that is in a capsule form, not a compressed tablet form like most of the multivitamins on the market. And the reason is for you to get the maximum benefit of the ingredients in the multivitamin.
You want the absorption to start happening inside the stomach. And that's exactly what happens with the gel capsule, because that capsule will dissolve in your stomach and start the absorption process right away. Whereas with a compressed tablet, the breakdown and absorption of that won't happen until it passes through the stomach and into the intestines, which is still give you some absorption and some benefit, but not the maximum.
And if you're going to spend the money, you might as well get the maximum benefit. Not to mention that because the absorption process doesn't happen soon enough, it's very likely that you'll end up pooping out an intact compressed tablet. I know it's gross, but it's a real thing. So moving forward, make sure that your multivitamin comes in a gel capsule to avoid literally flushing your money down the toilet.
